As more patients lose insurance, go on Medicaid, or have insurance that requires deductibles, we are seeing a significant drop in outpatient primary care office visits of all kinds, including annual peventive vists and urgent care/sick visits, much to our surprise.

Re: Outpatient Statistics 2010

Thank you for the comment, Doug.

For this outpatient visit study, there are no physician office visits included. The sources for this data are NHAMCS, Esri (for population and demographics), and Stratasan.

We also provide reports on physician office visits. The sources for those reports are NAMCS, Esri, and Stratasan.

Let us know if you have further questions.

Re: Outpatient Statistics 2010

Hi, first thank you much for sharing this information.

Can you provide any insights on the definition of what is included in outpatient visits? I.e. does it include strictly hospital-based outpatient visits, does it include clinic or practice visits for physicians that are employed by hospitals, etc

Re: Medicare Market Share Analytics 2010

This is a great post. Identifying trends in the data allows for providers across the continuum of care to understand their markets, and alter their strategies accordingly. As a user of Stratasan's systems, I am able to identify where underserved patients live. This in turn helps me make our communities healthier, and will help turn those trends in the other direction.

Re: Uninsured Approaching 50 Million Mark

That map is great!

Re: Outpatient Statistics 2010

Hello, Mridul.

The source for the outpatient reports used for this post are The National Hospital Ambulatory Medical Care Survey (NHAMCS) from the CDC and Census data provided by Esri.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

-Jason

Re: Outpatient Statistics 2010

Hi,
What is the source for this data?
Thanks

Re: Uninsured Approaching 50 Million Mark

"Due to the same number of people being dispersed throughout our country, we are more tolerant of the problem."
___

Well, yeah. I don't have access to the data, but I believe the behavior you expected (Patient Days decreasing) actually is occurring as the number of Patient Days per Inpatient dropped from 5.87 to 5.79 - which is a statistically significant shift in data. Perhaps that change is caused by older boomers dying (bolstering the $ on your last day note), just not at a fast enough rate (yet) to stem the tide of the raw Patient Days figures as boomers flood into the system.

Re: Physician Office Visit Statistics 2010

It woukld be interesting to see what percentage of these visits are for preventive services and if that number goes up with the new healthcare law.

Re: HealthDataSource – Nashville Business Journal

Jason,

You company has a fantastic set of products.
